Slim and shape your body with à la carte slimming
Are you frustrated that after working hard in
the gym there’s a trouble spot you simply cannot shift? You've got your energy
balance right (read more
here), and know how
to manage your weight. But as you lose weight you find that the last area to
reduce is the one area you really care about – your problem spot! For many
people losing weight, the face is the first areas to get reduced, leaving them
looking gaunt and older, which makes it hard to stay motivated!
Until now there have
only been surgical procedures such as liposuction to deal with your problem
spot. Whilst exercise can burn fat, you cannot control where it gets taken from
- that's dictated by our genetics. After extensive scientific research and
clinical studies in Japan, a new treatment for this problem has been developed
and patented - Sonic Slim, which is now available for your problem spot at
Women's Workout.
Sonic Slim is a safe,
ultrasonic treatment, which allows spot reduction of fat to take place in almost
any place on the body you choose. It works by stimulating the body’s natural
mechanisms to release a hormone that causes the fat cells in the target area to
release the stored energy into the blood stream, a natural process known as
lipolysis. As long as this energy is used up by exercise within 60 minutes then
the result is à-la-carte slimming!
Here's the science bit
Sonic Slim is an ultrasonic treatment that works down a single channel and at a
low intensity level. The ultrasonic waves are specially selected to
sympathetically stimulate the nerve terminals. This causes a hormone,
Noradrenaline to be released by the nerve. This hormone then causes a natural
process call Lipolysis to take place within the adjoining fat cells.
Lipolysis
is the release of Free Fatty Acids and Glycerol from
the fat cells. These are essentially fuels that the body can use to power
muscles and other bodily functions. However if this fuel is not used within 60
minutes, then it will be re-absorbed by the fat cells. And of course if you over
eat after a treatment the excess calories could be stored back into your problem
spot.
Scientific studies
Dr Hiroide Miwa, Phd, has developed this unique technique in Japan. After 7
years of research in collaboration with 5 renowned hospitals and universities,
Miwa Science Laboratories research committee has scientifically validated this
totally innovative technique. The technique has now been patented, based on the
action of a specific ultrasound frequency and intensity, which results in a
reduction of subcutaneous and visceral fat. In 2002, Dr Miwa's study has been
published in a scientific review: [Pathophysiology 9 (2002) 13/19 : Effect of
ultrasound application on fat mobilisation - view the study].
Since this founding article, Dr Miwa has deepened his research and has presented
further progress in several conferences on obesity.
- ECO 2000 (European Congress on Obesity). NE(NA) release in a local White adipose
tissue by sonication and increase of FFA in serum by Sonication.
- NASSO 2000 (North American Society for Study of Obesity) Decrease of
Subcutaneous Fat thickness of Sonicated right thigh, compared with Non-sonicated
left thigh. Decrease of Subcutaneous Fat (abdomen) by sonication.
- JASSO 2001 (Japan Society for Study of Obesity) Local circumference reduction by
sonication with VLCD and EMS. JASSO 2002 SF reduction by weak, wide area
sonication by X-CT observation. JASSO 2003 Dynamic Behaviour of NA(NE) and FFA
at NARL Sonication.
- NASSO 2004 NA (NE) Release from Human Salivary Glands by NARL Sonication.
- NASSO 2005 Norepinephrine/Free Fatty Acid Fuel sources during exercise

What results can I expect
Studies have shown that the average inch loss on the waist is more than 2". Here
is an example of the results on a women (42) with a BMI of 22.8 (ie nornal
weight for her height).
Changes after 12 treatments
stomach area -5.3 cm
waist
-3.2 cm
navel area -2.8 cm
underneath navel -3.8 cm
The echo scan shows the
subcutaneous fat reduced by 5 mm.
This CT scan shows:
Subcutaneus fat reduced by 13%
Visceral fat (the fat around the organs) reduced by 24.9%
Taken from a study by Prof. Ishii, University of Tokyo.
Safety
Sonic Slim uses a single channel low intensity sound wave that is substantialy
below the safety guidlines. The treatment has also been tested on 23 key blood
components with no adverse effects. Sonic Slim treatment has been used
extensively in many countries over the last 5 years with no problems reported.
Is it permanent?
Yes, the result will be long lasting providing that a healthy eating plan is
followed.

I would not hesitate to recommned the Sonic Slim treatment to people who have a
problem area (mine was the tumy) that will not reduce by exercise or diet alone.

When we begin to exercise, the body and brain trigger several metabolic pathways
in order to provide us with the energy we need, -dependant on the intensity and
duration of our activity. At low levels of exercise intensity, fats are
predominately burned giving rise to the concept of the fat burning zone. Working
out at higher intensity increases the total number of calories burned, but the %
from fat decreases, the calories burned are essentially from carbohydrates. With
Sonic Slim the fuel required is already available in the blood stream.
